Bad Bunny Wins His First Primetime Emmy for 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show

Bad Bunny has won his first Primetime Emmy, adding the television honor to the major awards already attached to his career. The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny won Outstanding Variety Special (Live) at the first night of the 78th Emmy Awards ceremonies on Saturday, September 5.

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, received credit as both a producer and performer on the special. The halftime show became the night’s biggest winner, collecting seven awards. Besides the top live-variety honor, it won for music direction, choreography, sound mixing, lighting design and lighting direction, technical direction and camerawork. Hamish Hamilton won Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special.

Bad Bunny headlined the Super Bowl LX halftime show in February. The 13-minute performance celebrated Puerto Rican culture through scenes inspired by the island, including a sugar cane field, a bodega, a wedding party and a casita. Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin also appeared.

The performance aired during the game between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. The Television Academy said it attracted an audience of 125 million viewers. The 78th Emmy Awards are being presented across three ceremonies, with the main televised event scheduled for September 14.
