Bahçeli Sends Noteworthy 'Process' Message: 'Framework Law Must Be Fully Supported'

Devlet Bahçeli, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), has urged full support for a "framework law" designed to combat terrorism in Turkey, describing it as a crucial step towards a "Terror-Free Turkey."

Bahçeli highlighted the PKK's February 27 call, made through a DEM Party delegation, to lay down arms and dissolve itself as a "historical turning point." He emphasized the need to establish a roadmap based on law, ethics, and democratic politics to implement this initiative in good faith. Bahçeli stressed that the issue should be treated as a matter above partisan politics, requiring unified support for the legislative process.

He criticized opponents of the "Terror-Free Turkey" initiative, accusing them of being "willing agents" of global and hegemonic powers. Bahçeli asserted that these critics lack the understanding to recognize their role in a struggle orchestrated by external forces. He framed the current policy as a vision for the future, aimed at democratization and carrying forward a thousand-year brotherhood into the next millennium.

The MHP leader reiterated his party's commitment to national unity, social harmony, and respecting diverse beliefs. He believes in integrating diverse values under a national perspective to address societal issues. Bahçeli stated that the "Terror-Free Turkey" process officially began on October 22, 2024, with the goal of unconditional disarmament by the PKK, zeroing out terrorism in the Turkish Century, and strengthening national unity. He noted that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and other political leaders have expressed support for the initiative.
