Bahia Court of Justice wants to boost communication spending by nearly 400%

The Bahia Court of Justice (TJBA) has proposed a significant budget increase for institutional communication and event promotion for 2027. The court's president, Judge José Edivaldo Rocha Rotondano, submitted a budget that includes R$ 13 million for communication, a substantial 371% jump from the R$ 2.7 million allocated for this year.

Furthermore, the proposed budget earmarks R$ 3.3 million for institutional events, representing a massive 1,200% increase compared to the R$ 250,000 planned for 2026. The overall budget for the TJBA in 2027 is set at R$ 1.5 billion.

The TJBA explained that these increases are part of an administrative restructuring that includes the creation of a new Social Communication Secretariat. This new department aims to better publicize the court's actions and work. Previously, communication efforts were managed by an advisory board under the Secretary-General of the Presidency.

"This court of Justice only had a social communication advisory, subordinate to the General Secretariat of the Presidency. The planned expense, therefore, contemplates the structuring of the new department, including increasing its production capacity, justifying the observed increment compared to the previous year," the tribunal stated in a note. The court also noted that funds for institutional events were reallocated from the technical and administrative services maintenance budget.
