Baihe Vocational High School Students Shine with Multiple Certifications; Adversity-Stricken Student Accepted to Prestigious University

Students at Baihe Vocational High School in Tainan are showcasing exceptional technical prowess, with several achieving multiple high-level certifications. Two students from the information technology department, Wan Chi-yi and Chen Po-hsuan, have each earned four Level B professional certifications: "Digital Electronics," "Computer Hardware Maintenance," "Computer Software Application," and "Instrumentation Electronics." This demonstrates their deep cross-disciplinary skills and the school's dedication to vocational education.

Among the standout achievers is Hong Hui-lan from the civil engineering department, who obtained a Level B certification in "Surveying." She also holds a senior Vietnamese language certification from last year. This year, Hong successfully gained admission to the Department of Construction Engineering at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology through the vocational star recommendation program. As the first student of new immigrant background from Baihe Vocational High School to be accepted into the prestigious university, her story is particularly inspiring.

Hong's journey was marked by significant challenges. She lived in Vietnam with her family from elementary school until the second year of junior high, returning to Taiwan due to the pandemic. Facing a steep learning curve in a new language and academic environment, coupled with her family's low-income status, Hong worked part-time during holidays at social welfare bureaus and engineering firms to help support her family. Her determination and resilience propelled her to the top of her class in both academics and internships.

"I am very grateful for the solid professional skills training provided by the school's teachers, which gave me the confidence to bring these skills to National Taiwan University of Science and Technology," Hong stated. "Being accepted is an affirmation of my hard work." She also expressed gratitude to her parents, military instructors, and benefactors for their support throughout her high school education. Hong aspires to pursue further specialized knowledge in civil engineering and become a professional engineer.

The school's commitment to practical education is further evidenced by other students' achievements. Four other students have secured two Level B certifications each. He Yi-nian from the information technology department earned dual certifications in "Digital Electronics" and "Power Electronics." Meanwhile, data processing students Hsiao Chih-chi, Su Yi-ling, and Pai Ting-hsuan obtained dual certifications in "Pre-press Printing" and "Computer Software Application." Principal Lin Shuo-yen praised the students' efforts and the teachers' dedication, noting that Baihe Vocational High School has previously produced "Vocational Stars" recognized by the Ministry of Education, underscoring the school's success in preparing students for higher education and future careers.
