Idealist Confused Reveal Who Carries the Biggest Idol Baggage

Idealized Blunder is turning the pressure of being seen into the theme of its fourth album. “Idol Baggage” will arrive digitally on September 16, while its title track has already been released. The song’s music video is scheduled to go live on the band’s official YouTube channel at 8 p.m.

The album examines the pursuit of an ideal self, along with the responsibilities and personality masks people carry. The band compares that burden to mimicry in nature, where organisms imitate others to survive.

When asked who in the group has the heaviest idol baggage, the members quickly offered examples. Ke-Pei said A-Zhe takes pride in his delicate features and becomes concerned when photographs make him look less refined. Ji-Ding pointed to Jian-Ting, who says he does not want to show his physique before concerts while training intensely and appearing ready to reveal it anyway. Ji-Ding joked that Jian-Ting’s hidden six-pack gives him even more baggage.

A-Zhe said he thinks carefully before posting on social media and has become increasingly introverted. Ke-Pei said he keeps his appearance neat and recalled being recognized by medical staff after a health examination, even while still dizzy after a colonoscopy. The group agreed that Ke-Pei has the least baggage. A-Zhe called him a natural idol who treats being an idol as naturally as breathing, while Ji-Ding praised his confidence and willingness to try unfamiliar things.

The band said the album marks a sharper turn from the gentle, empathetic style of its earlier work. Ji-Ding wrote the title song, which uses theatrical arrangements and lyrics to stage a conflicted psychological game between public figures and the public gaze. Recording included a specially ordered seven-string guitar, demanding drum parts and vocal performances shaped around exaggerated emotions. Ji-Ding said he imagined himself as the lead character from “Joker” to move between sarcastic, seductive and angry moods. He said online attention makes it easier to be seen, but brings greater difficulty and responsibility once the spotlight arrives.
