Bali Airport reports normal flights to NTT after earthquake

I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar, Bali, has confirmed that all regular flights to East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) are operating normally in the aftermath of a significant earthquake in Flores, NTT. Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, Head of Communication and Legal Division at the airport, stated that operations have been normal and optimal since the tremor occurred.

Bali's airport serves as a key connection point for NTT, with routes to destinations like Labuan Bajo and Tambolaka. Several Indonesian airlines, including Indonesia AirAsia, Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, Batik Air, Lion Air, Super Air Jet, and Wings Air, provide services to the region. The Labuan Bajo route typically sees nine departures and eight arrivals daily, while Tambolaka has two arrivals and three departures.

Fortunately, the powerful magnitude 7.7 earthquake, which struck 30 kilometers northeast of Mbay in Nagekeo Regency, Flores, did not disrupt air traffic. The tremor, occurring at a depth of 15 kilometers, initially prompted a tsunami early warning for parts of NTT and surrounding areas. However, airport management confirmed that flight services to and from NTT airports have continued without interruption, and no cancellations have been reported.

The airport management also extended its empathy and concern to the residents affected by the natural disaster in Nagekeo and its surrounding areas.
