Banda Aceh Police Chief Transferred After Internal Affairs Examination

Commissioner Andi Kirana has been removed as Banda Aceh’s police chief and transferred to a middle-ranking post in the National Police headquarters service unit. The move followed his examination by the National Police’s Professional and Security Division, known as Propam.

The transfer appeared in National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo’s telegram dated August 30, 2026. Teguh Priambodo Nugroho, previously the information and communications technology chief at the Aceh regional police, took over as Banda Aceh police chief. He had already served as acting chief while Andi underwent the examination.

The position of deputy police chief also changed. Benny Bathara, previously police chief in Nagan Raya, was appointed to that role.

Andi was examined alongside Muhammad Jabir, the Banda Aceh police narcotics chief. Propam officers brought both men to Jakarta on August 5 for intensive questioning. Police have not said what matter prompted the examination.

National Police public information chief Johnny Eddizon Isir said the process followed information submitted by members of the public. He said the examination would be conducted professionally, transparently and under applicable law. “Every process carried out by the police against personnel is part of the oversight and enforcement mechanism within the internal police environment,” he said. Isir added that police would explain the results publicly when the process had reached the appropriate stage.
