Bandits abduct 13 in Kebbi border community

Thirteen residents of Tangaram Village in Kebbi State, Nigeria, have been abducted by suspected armed bandits following a midnight raid on the community. The attack occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, with assailants reportedly firing into the air before entering homes and taking residents toward the Zamfara border.

The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the incident on Monday, stating that all abducted individuals are adult males, contrary to some circulating reports. "The abducted persons are still in captivity following the attack on Tangaram Village, Danko/Wasagu LGA," said SP Bashir Usman, the command's spokesperson. He assured that security operatives have intensified coordinated rescue operations along the border communities linking Kebbi and Zamfara states.

Residents continue to face recurrent raids, kidnappings, and cattle rustling by armed groups operating within the North-West forest belt. Previous attacks in the Danko/Wasagu area have reportedly led to mass abductions, with some victims allegedly released after ransom payments amounting to millions of naira.
