Bandits Abduct Kebbi High Court Judge in Midnight Raid

Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, a serving judge of the Kebbi State High Court, has been abducted from his home by suspected bandits. The incident took place in Bunza town, within the Bunza Local Government Area, during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Sources indicate that the gunmen invaded the judge's residence around midnight, firing sporadically into the air before forcing him to accompany them. The judge had reportedly just returned from an official trip to Sokoto when the attackers struck. Fortunately, no other occupants of the house were harmed during the raid, according to a source close to the family.

The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the abduction, stating that they received the report around midnight. The Commissioner of Police has since ordered the immediate deployment of tactical and intelligence operatives to track down the abductors. "As we speak, our personnel are combing identified locations, including forest areas, to ensure that the judge is rescued alive and unharmed," stated SP Bashir Usman, the Police Public Relations Officer for Kebbi State.

A senior official from the Kebbi State High Court, speaking anonymously, described the event as a "sad development for the judiciary." The management of the High Court has convened with security agency heads to strategize on securing the judge's swift release. As of the time of reporting, no group has claimed responsibility for the abduction, and no ransom demands have been made.
