Bandits kill two, abduct six in Katsina raid

Bandits killed two residents and abducted six others in an attack on Unguwar Aminu village in Katsina State, Nigeria. The raid, which occurred Tuesday night, also left four people injured and resulted in the theft of livestock and valuables from local shops.

The victims killed were identified as Ibrahim Sama’ila and Mashakuru Isa. The abducted group included three men and three women. The injured were hospitalized for treatment. Residents reported that the attackers, armed men, were seen moving from Faskari Local Government Area before descending on Unguwar Aminu.

This attack is the latest in a string of raids on communities in Bakori Local Government Area since late July. These incidents have led to killings, mass abductions, and livestock theft, displacing residents. The Kandarawa Ward, where the latest attack occurred, has seen two raids in less than three weeks.

Despite security operations, including a major confrontation between security forces and suspected bandits in Guga on July 26 that resulted in over 40 bandits killed, attacks have continued. These include raids on Unguwar Dogo and Alhazawa on July 31, and an attack on Shuwaki on August 1, which left one dead, seven injured, and 32 abducted. One abducted woman was later released, leaving 31 in captivity, mostly women and infants.
