Bands Galèra and Garbanotas release music video for "Plaka"

Lithuanian jazz-rock collective Galèra has unveiled its first music video, a visual accompaniment to the song "Plaka." This track, recorded in collaboration with the band Garbanotas, is featured on Galèra's debut album, "GARSU," released earlier this year.

The music video's narrative centers on the clash of two distinct worlds. The "Galèra" members, led by Rokas Raibis, embody a stylized reality, while Šarūnas Joneikis, the vocalist of "Garbanotas," represents a mysterious dreamscape. These two realms converge when the main characters awaken a dormant muse of love, portrayed by Gabrielė Baubaitė, symbolizing the significance of love and the power of creative collaboration.

According to Jokūbas Kokanauskis, a band member and co-director of the video, the message about love served as the primary creative impulse. "The process was complex and quite unusual, but ultimately we achieved a fun, interesting, and somewhat unpredictable result," he stated. The production involved a creative team of approximately 60 people, bringing together narrative elements, choreography, and documentary footage.

Kokanauskis shared directing duties with Minija Skuodaitė, while Rokas Raibis contributed to the script. The filming included not only the musicians but also a dance troupe, along with specialists in cinematography, art direction, costume design, editing, and makeup. Unexpectedly, archival video material from Galèra's rehearsals, concerts, and daily life was incorporated, adding a television motif that naturally connected the different visual layers. These documentary fragments, including moments from the sold-out album launch concert at the club "Kablys," lend authenticity and highlight the band's sense of community.
