Bandung Deputy Mayor Expresses Gratitude as Corruption Case Dropped

Bandung Deputy Mayor Erwin has voiced his relief and gratitude following the decision by the Bandung District Attorney's Office to halt the corruption case against him. The office issued a termination of investigation (SP3) on Wednesday, a move Erwin described as a result of objective legal proceedings.

I thank the prosecutor's office for working objectively and adhering to legal principles. Anyway, I thank the district attorney, the high prosecutor, the attorney general, Jampidsus, and Jamintel. Well, the decision is like this, thank God, I am happy.

Erwin and Bandung City Council member Rendiana Awangga were initially named suspects in a corruption case in December 2025. However, after a six-month investigation under the leadership of Abun Hasbuloh Sambas, the District Attorney's Office decided to drop the charges.

"I thank the prosecutor's office for working objectively and adhering to legal principles," Erwin said. He extended his gratitude to the District Attorney, the High Prosecutor, the Attorney General's Office, and the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes and Intelligence. "The decision is like this, thank God, I am happy," he added.

During the period he was a suspect but not detained, Erwin continued his public activities, including giving lectures and leading prayers. He also engaged with community issues without publicizing his involvement. Erwin confirmed he would resume his official duties on Monday and coordinate with the Mayor of Bandung. He also mentioned participating in a Tablig Akbar event and visiting several Islamic boarding schools. Regarding the restoration of his reputation, Erwin stated he does not dwell on it, believing all matters are divinely ordained.
