Bandung DPRD Urges Youth Committee to Drive Development and Empowerment

The Bandung City Regional Representative Council (DPRD) has underscored the critical importance of youth engagement in driving regional development and empowerment. This emphasis was made during the inauguration ceremony for the Batununggal Sub-district KNPI (Indonesian National Youth Committee) officials for the 2026–2029 period.

Toni Wijaya, a leader at the DPRD Bandung City, addressed the newly installed officials, stressing that their positions within the youth organization should be viewed as a platform for dedicated service and tangible contributions to the community. He urged the youth not to be passive observers but active agents of change in social dynamics.

The DPRD affirmed its support for enhancing the capabilities of young people, recognizing them as vital assets for regional progress. Specifically, the council highlighted the significant potential within the Batununggal Sub-district, noting the growing economic and creative prowess of its youth.

Wijaya encouraged the Batununggal KNPI to adopt three key orientations: fostering cross-community collaboration to make KNPI a unifying hub for youth; developing independent, measurable, and impactful work programs; and acting as both a critical partner and a source of solutions for the government and the DPRD. He emphasized that while the DPRD welcomes aspirations and ideas, any criticism should be accompanied by constructive solutions to benefit the city's development.

The council believes that synergy between youth, the government, and the wider community is essential for accelerating participatory development. The KNPI is expected to lead these efforts, demonstrating adaptability and fostering social innovation within Batununggal.
