In a moment of profound personal loss, the Pangkalpinang District Court has granted a temporary reprieve to the Deputy Governor of Bangka Belitung Islands, Hellyana. She has been permitted to leave her detention facility to attend the funeral of her husband, Herry Setyobudi, who passed away at the age of 63 in Jakarta.

The court's decision, formalized through a decree, allows Hellyana a two-day period of temporary release, commencing May 21 and concluding May 22, 2026. This compassionate measure follows a request submitted by Hellyana's family. The court has issued a decree Number 274/Pid.B/2026/PN Pgp. dated May 20, 2026, to grant Hellyana permission to leave and depart the state detention house for the purpose of attending the funeral of her husband.

Hellyana is currently serving a four-month sentence for fraud related to hotel booking payments, a conviction handed down by the same court on May 18, 2026. The court found her guilty of repeatedly exploiting a position of trust for personal gain, causing material and psychological distress to the victim. Despite her conviction, the court's decision to grant temporary leave for her husband's funeral underscores a balance between justice and humanity, allowing her to fulfill her role as a grieving spouse during this period.
