Bangka UMKM's Dried Ketapang Leaves Reach U.S. Market

Small and medium-sized enterprises (UMKM) from Bangka Belitung are proving their mettle on the global stage with a recent export of dried ketapang leaves to the United States. PT Central Charcoal Babelindo (CCB), supported by Bea Cukai Pangkalpinang, shipped 290 boxes, totaling 763 kg of the product, on May 25, 2026.

Dried ketapang leaves are a sought-after commodity internationally, particularly for their beneficial properties in ornamental fish care. The leaves contain active compounds like flavonoids, tannins, and saponins, which are known to help stabilize water pH and serve as a natural antibiotic for fish. This demand has led to a consistent market presence in countries including the U.S.

Syarifudin, Head of Internal Compliance and Counseling at Bea Cukai Pangkalpinang, stated that CCB's success exemplifies how local UMKM can compete and market their products sustainably in the global arena. "CCB is a tangible example that UMKM can continuously market their products abroad," Syarifudin said. He attributed this achievement to the company's persistence in seeking business opportunities, expanding markets, and maintaining strong relationships with international partners.
