Bangkok named world's best city for nightlife by locals

Bangkok has been crowned the world's best city for nightlife, according to a recent survey by Time Out magazine in collaboration with Intrepid Travel. The study, which polled over 24,000 people globally, evaluated the nightlife scenes in their respective cities.

The Thai capital secured the top spot, with 73% of surveyed locals rating its nightlife as good or excellent. The same percentage of respondents indicated that it is easy to meet people in Bangkok. Time Out's expert panel was even more impressed, giving Bangkok a 95% positive rating. This high score is likely attributed to the city's diverse nightlife, which extends beyond large clubs to include rooftop bars, intimate cocktail lounges, street food vendors, and a renowned, lively LGBTQ+ scene.

Berlin secured the second position, with 78% of locals deeming its nightlife good or excellent. While often associated with underground parties and exclusive clubs, Berlin's residents highlighted its relaxed bars and pubs as the best aspects of the city's nightlife. New York City followed in third place, frequently described by locals as exciting, diverse, and vibrant, earning an 82% positive rating from residents and a 95% rating from Time Out experts. However, New York was noted as one of the more expensive cities on the list, with only 40% of locals finding going out affordable.

Melbourne ranked fourth, with 77% of locals rating its nightlife positively, and 59% noting a strong sense of community. São Paulo completed the top five, receiving high marks for both quality and affordability. The survey considered various factors, including the accessibility of clubs and bars, affordability, overall quality of the nightlife experience, opportunities for socializing, safety, and the city's general atmosphere of excitement, hospitality, and diversity.
