Bangladesh Party Claims Convoy Attack; Police Deny Incident

Leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) claim their convoy, including party chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary, was attacked Friday night while returning to Sylhet city from Jaintiapur upazila. Party officials allege that attackers hurled stones at the vehicles, causing injuries to Patwary and another individual.

NCP leaders, including Convener Nahid Islam, who is also the opposition chief whip in parliament, posted videos on Facebook showing shattered vehicle windows and bloodied hands inside the car. Patwary, in a social media post, blamed Tarique Rahman and accused the BNP of choosing violence. Islam echoed these sentiments, stating that "BNP's terrorist forces" attacked the convoy.

However, Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman Molla, the officer-in-charge of Jaintiapur Police Station, has denied the NCP's account. He stated that police provided full escort for the convoy up to the upazila's border and handed them over to the neighboring police station's protocol. Molla asserted that if an attack had occurred, the party would have informed the police or stopped their vehicle, neither of which happened.
