Bank of Russia issues silver coin with Akhmat Kadyrov

The Bank of Russia is set to release a new commemorative silver coin honoring Akhmat Kadyrov, the first president of the Chechen Republic. The coin is part of the 'Outstanding Personalities of Russia' series and is being issued to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Kadyrov's birth.

Scheduled for release on July 14, the coin has a face value of 2 Russian rubles. It is minted with a 'proof' quality finish and has a limited circulation of 3,000 pieces. The commemorative coin is recognized as legal tender within the Russian Federation and is required to be accepted for all types of payments at its nominal value without any restrictions.

Akhmat Kadyrov served as the first president of the Chechen Republic from July 2003 to May 2004. Prior to his presidency, he held significant religious and political positions. From 1995 to 2000, he was the mufti of the unrecognized Chechen Republic of Ichkeria and the chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Chechnya. He was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation in 2004. Kadyrov died on May 9, 2004, in a terrorist attack at the Dynamo stadium in Grozny.
