Barcelona finalizing Adeyemi transfer for €22 million plus variables

FC Barcelona is reportedly close to securing the transfer of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund. The German forward is expected to join the Catalan club for a fixed fee of 22 million euros, with an additional 7 million euros in potential add-ons tied to title achievements.

Sources within the club have confirmed a verbal agreement, although final documentation is still pending. The deal also includes a provision for Barcelona to receive 20% of any future profit should Adeyemi be sold by the club. Barcelona aims to finalize the transfer soon to allow the 24-year-old to join the team's preseason training.

Adeyemi has had a notable career at Dortmund over the past four seasons, accumulating 36 goals and 25 assists in 146 matches. His playing time saw a decrease in the last season as Dortmund recognized his reluctance to extend his contract, which expires in June 2027. He has also represented Germany 11 times, scoring one goal.

Notably, current Barcelona coach Hansi Flick gave Adeyemi his debut for the German national team. However, Adeyemi was not selected for the recent World Cup. He initially joined Dortmund in 2022 for 30 million euros after a successful stint at Salzburg, where he scored 33 goals and provided 24 assists in 94 games. This signing follows Barcelona's acquisition of Anthony Gordon and the departure of Robert Lewandowski to Chicago Fire.
