Barcelona rejects PSG's first offer for Ferran Torres

FC Barcelona has turned down an initial offer of €40 million (approximately $46 million) from Paris Saint-Germain for Spanish World Cup winner Ferran Torres. A source close to the Catalan club confirmed that negotiations between Barcelona and PSG are continuing.

Spanish media reports suggest that Ferran Torres, who scored the winning goal in the 2026 World Cup final against Argentina, has given his approval to move to Paris. Such a transfer would reunite him with his former national team coach, Luis Enrique, who now manages PSG.

Torres, 26, is currently under contract with Barcelona until June 2027. In recent interviews during a promotional tour in the United States, he expressed some ambiguity about his future, stating, "I have a contract with Barcelona, but you never know in football. I just hope to make the right decision." When asked about a "dream" destination, he hinted at one without revealing it, saying, "I just want to be happy."

Since his transfer from Manchester City in 2021 for around €55 million ($63 million), Torres has been a regular starter for Barcelona. He has scored 40 goals in 94 matches across all competitions over the past two seasons. The forward, who came through Valencia's academy, was often preferred over Robert Lewandowski in the starting lineup last season.
