FVF announces the resumption of the Copa Venezuela for August 19

The Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF) has announced the resumption of the Copa Venezuela, with the tournament set to restart on August 19. The competition was previously suspended on June 24 following two significant earthquakes that struck Venezuela.

With the restart, five remaining matchdays will be played, concluding the group stage on October 21. The final of the tournament is scheduled for December, though a specific date has not yet been set. The ongoing impact of the earthquakes has affected at least one club, with Marítimo de La Guaira announcing a temporary cessation of operations on July 15 due to force majeure, preventing their participation in the Copa Venezuela.

Consequently, Group A of the tournament will now feature only three clubs: Deportivo Miranda, Ávila FC, and Anzoátegui FC. The other groups remain unchanged. The FVF has also confirmed that matches in Caracas will be played behind closed doors until further notice. This decision affects stadiums like the Estadio Olímpico de la Universidad Central de Venezuela and the Estadio Brígido Iriarte, both of which sustained structural damage from the earthquakes, rendering them unsafe for public attendance.

Following the group stage, the top team from each group will advance to the final phase. Additionally, the three best second-place teams will also qualify. These qualifiers will then compete against the eight clubs that reached the final stage of the 2026 Liga Futve Apertura tournament.
