Barcelona returns to work without overseas tour, aiming to repeat quadruple

FC Barcelona Femení returns to work on Monday to begin a preseason that will start with the usual medical and physical tests. The main change this year is the absence of a transoceanic tour, a departure from recent summers where the team traveled long distances.

Last summer, the team toured Mexico, playing against a selection of stars from the Liga MX Femenil and Club América Femenil. In 2024, the destination was the United States for three matches, and in 2023, Mexico also hosted the Barcelona squad. This year, the absence of a World Cup or European Championship has allowed players nearly two months of rest since the last league match on May 31.

The team is preparing for a season where they will aim to repeat the successes of the past, having conquered all four titles available. This will be Pere Romeu's third season leading the first team. He has called up all squad players and several from the reserve team for Monday's sessions, starting at 8:30 AM at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.

The first training session is scheduled for Tuesday at 9:00 AM. Morning sessions on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday will complete the first week of preparation for the 2026-2027 season. The first friendly match will be on August 12 at the Johan Cruyff Stadium against French side Montpellier.

New signings Tyler McCamey, Renee van Asten, and Martina Fernández will participate in the medical tests. Meanwhile, the sporting directorate continues to work in the transfer market to complete a renewed squad after the departures of captain Alexia Putellas, defenders Mapi León and Ona Batlle, and forward Salma Paralluelo. The club is reportedly seeking to reinforce the wing-back position and is in negotiations with Manchester City for Brazilian forward Kerolin Nicoli.
