Bareskrim Busts Etomidate Smuggling from Thailand in Pluit Apartment

Indonesian National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim Polri) has successfully dismantled an international drug trafficking network involved in smuggling the anesthetic etomidate from Thailand into Jakarta. The operation led to the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of 210 milliliters of the drug.

The arrests occurred in two separate locations: Pluit, North Jakarta, and Taman Sari, West Jakarta. In Pluit, police apprehended Julian for receiving a package containing etomidate at the lobby of Tower D, Greenbay Apartment. Julian reportedly stated he was instructed by Ruddi Irwanto to store the package in room 23CB of the same apartment complex. Following this lead, officers arrested Ruddi outside the apartment.

Ruddi confessed that the illicit substance belonged to individuals identified as Henhen and Edo, who are currently fugitives. He claimed he was promised a payment of around 30-40 million Rupiah for retrieving and storing the package. The investigation further extended to two women, Dewita Indah Sari and her younger sister Dewina Cloei, who were arrested in West Jakarta. Police believe they assisted in facilitating the package's delivery from Thailand, with Dewita tracking the package's location and Dewina helping to pay customs duties.

In addition to the etomidate, police confiscated electronic evidence, including two iPhones. The seized narcotics are estimated to be worth approximately 630 million Rupiah, and authorities stated the operation potentially saved 105 lives from the dangers of drug abuse. The suspects are facing charges under Indonesia's Narcotics Law, with potential penalties including lengthy prison sentences.
