BARMM poll preparations 98% complete - DILG

National government preparations for the upcoming Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections are nearly complete, with Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla stating they are "98 percent ready."

"We’re so close to completing it. We’re just fine-tuning it," Remulla said, emphasizing that all polling precincts and contingencies are in place. He assured the public that efforts are being made to prevent any disruptions.

We’ll make sure that nothing happens again, but [we’re] 98 percent [ready]. All the polling precincts are there. All the contingencies are there.

Security for the Sept. 14 elections will be bolstered by the deployment of at least 5,000 police officers, with additional personnel on standby. Remulla met with Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. to discuss security arrangements at the PRO-BARMM headquarters.

Remulla stressed the accountability of every police officer, stating, "If any violence happens in this coming elections, you will be accountable to me and to the Chief PNP. Peace must prevail." Eighty seats in the Bangsamoro Parliament are up for grabs in the upcoming elections.
