Barranquilla neighborhoods to face power outages Tuesday for maintenance

Residents in a sector of the Olaya Herrera neighborhood in Barranquilla and in the municipality of Palmar de Varela will experience power outages on Tuesday, August 25. The company Air-e announced electrical grid work that will extend for over seven hours, from 8:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the area of Carrera 11 with Calle 8. Operators will work on the low-voltage network and perform pruning.

In Puerto Colombia, specifically in Altos de Pradomar, electrical infrastructure elements will be replaced. These works are scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Diagonal 3A with Carrera 31.

Alongside these scheduled maintenance tasks, Air-e is actively engaging with communities in Atlántico, Magdalena, and La Guajira to encourage energy conservation amid high temperatures linked to the El Niño phenomenon. Recent efforts included sessions with local council members in Barranquilla's Metropolitan district. The company advises against "silent consumption" from devices left plugged in and promotes efficient use of air conditioners and refrigerators.

Air-e also launched the 'Caribe Cambia tu Energía' program, which facilitates the replacement of inefficient refrigeration equipment with lower-consumption technologies. These initiatives aim to reduce electricity demand in homes and businesses during peak temperature periods. Commercially, over 80,000 users have settled their energy debts through the 'Ponte Bacano' strategy, which offers payment alternatives for overdue bills. The company seeks to balance infrastructure improvements with consumption reduction efforts, especially as the Caribbean region's demand for cooling systems rises with the heat.
