Barry Morphew Arrested and Booked Into Boulder County Jail

Barry Morphew was booked into Boulder County Jail late Thursday after authorities arrested him on an outstanding warrant from Alamosa County for failure to comply.

A custody record said Morphew was arrested at about 9:11 p.m. on Sept. 3 and remained in custody as of 11:11 p.m. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that he had been taken into custody.

Morphew is awaiting trial in Alamosa County in the killing of his wife, Suzanne Morphew. He had been released on a $3 million bond under strict conditions. A judge recently tightened those restrictions and ordered him to remain inside his home at all times, without exceptions.

The arrest came days after a Denver hit-and-run investigation, first reported by CBS Colorado, raised questions about whether Morphew had violated the terms of his release. In a newly released motion, prosecutors said they reviewed video obtained by CBS Colorado and determined that Morphew was “clearly visible and identifiable as the person who perpetrated the hit-and-run.”

A bond hearing in the Alamosa County case is scheduled for Sept. 8. CBS Colorado said it had contacted law enforcement for more information and described the case as developing.
