Baseball: Former Fubon pitcher dominates in China as he leads Xiamen to a record win

Former Fubon Guardians pitcher Isaki Ninomiya led the Xiamen Dolphins to a 5-2 win over the Shenzhen Blue Sox, striking out six in five innings. The victory was the Dolphins' first over the Blue Sox in team history.

The 27-year-old Japanese right-hander allowed seven hits and two runs, one earned, while walking one. He left after five innings with the win.

Ninomiya previously played for the Shizuoka Kufu HAYATE farm team in Japan's professional baseball system. Early last year, he represented Japan's Breeze team at the Caribbean Series before moving to Taiwan. Fubon retained him after a tryout as a development foreign player.

He made nine appearances for Fubon's farm team, going 1-2 with a 5.68 ERA over 31.2 innings. He recorded 28 strikeouts and a 1.77 WHIP. In his first three games for Xiamen, however, he has gone 1-0 with a 0.75 ERA. He has allowed one earned run in 12 innings and struck out 16.
