Bauchi to distribute starter packs to agripreneurs

The Bauchi State Government is launching a new phase of its agricultural empowerment program, with a seven-member committee established to oversee the distribution of starter packs and grants. A total of 1,250 youths and women, who completed training under the Innovative and Integrated Agricultural Value Chain and Agribusiness Programme, will benefit from this initiative.

This event is yet another clear demonstration of the Governor of Bauchi State’s unwavering commitment to sustainable youth and women empowerment through agriculture.

Ilyasu Gital, the Commissioner for Agriculture, emphasized that this program reflects Governor Bala Mohammed's dedication to empowering young people and women through agricultural ventures. The initiative also aims to bolster food security and stimulate economic growth within the state. This effort builds upon a prior program that successfully trained and supported 1,000 individuals, many of whom have since become entrepreneurs in various agricultural sectors.

The overarching aim of the starter pack and grant support is to ensure that beneficiaries can effectively apply the skills acquired during training to establish viable ventures, become self-reliant, and generate employment in their communities.

Beneficiaries received their training in 2025 at the International Skill Acquisition Centre. The starter packs and grants are intended to enable them to establish viable agribusinesses, achieve self-reliance, and create employment opportunities in their communities. The government has also approved an enhanced support package to account for current economic conditions, ensuring participants gain maximum benefit from the program. Gital described the intervention as a strategic investment in human capital and rural development across all 20 local government areas of Bauchi State.
