Bayelsa Deputy Governor Commends Community for Peaceful Paramount Ruler Election

Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Dr Peter Akpe, has commended the chiefs, elders, women, and youths of Yenezue-Gene Community in Yenagoa Local Government Area for successfully conducting a peaceful election for a new paramount ruler.

Dr. Akpe expressed his appreciation to the Obenibe of Epie Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, King Malla Sasime, and other stakeholders for their roles in ensuring the election's peaceful process. He specifically lauded King Sasime's commitment to peace and development within his domain, noting the election's success as a testament to his capability.

I want to sincerely appreciate His Majesty as always, and the committee for doing a good job. This is another testimony of your capability to deliver on assignments. We appreciate you for what you are doing for your kingdom and the state.

The deputy governor assured the Epie monarch that the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs would expedite the processing of the certificate of recognition and staff of office for the paramount ruler-elect, Chief Fortune Magnus, and the deputy paramount ruler-elect, Chief Nothing-Bad Dagana. This preparation is for their official coronation.

King Sasime reported that the Yenezue-Gene Chieftaincy Election, held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, proceeded peacefully and in accordance with state government directives. He described the election as credible and transparent, with Chief Fortune Magnus emerging as the paramount ruler-elect and Chief Nothing-Bad Dagana as deputy. King Sasime also commended the sportsmanship of other contestants and urged all stakeholders to cooperate with the new leadership for the community's progress. He thanked the state government for creating an enabling environment for the election, expressing hope for restored and maintained communal peace and good governance in Yenezue-Gene, which had been without a paramount ruler for several years.

His Excellency, the Deputy Governor asked me and my people to go and conduct the election of the paramount ruler of Yenezue-Gene Community. The stool has been vacant for some years. So, the election was conducted on the 22nd of August, 2026, in a peaceful atmosphere and in line with the directive of the state government.
