Bayelsa PDP approves N20m palace project in Jonathan’s hometown

The Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved a N20 million palace project for the traditional ruler of Elebele Community in Ogbia Local Government Area. This initiative is seen as a move to consolidate support in the hometown of former President Goodluck Jonathan as the 2028 governorship election approaches.

We are not going to wait until after the election. We have seen the condition of the palace, and it is not befitting of Elebele. Our leaders have already provided N20m, and work will commence immediately.

State Chairman of the PDP, George Turnah, announced the project during a reception for defectors from the All Progressives Congress. He explained that the intervention became necessary after party leaders observed the traditional ruler's palace in a deplorable condition. Turnah emphasized that construction would begin immediately, rather than waiting for election campaigns, to demonstrate the PDP's commitment to communities that have remained loyal to the party.

This is not a campaign rally. We are here to receive our brother and his supporters back to the PDP.

Turnah highlighted Elebele's political significance as one of the largest and most active communities in Ogbia, noting that it had received little political recognition until the PDP facilitated appointments and elections for its members into public office. He assured residents that more development initiatives would be unveiled as electioneering activities officially commence, stressing that the PDP possesses the structure, people, and experience to regain the Government House in 2028.

Elebele has remained loyal to the PDP, and the community will continue to benefit from that loyalty.
