Politics not for the weak, says Bayelsa PDP chairman

George Turnah, the Bayelsa State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declared on Sunday that the party is fully prepared for the 2028 governorship election. He asserted that the PDP would not be intimidated by recent political realignments in the state.

Turnah made these remarks at a reception for former All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Gabriel Claudius, known as “One Million Man,” and his supporters who joined the PDP in Elebele Community, Ogbia Local Government Area. Turnah described Claudius’ return as a major boost to the party’s grassroots mobilization efforts and urged members to begin preparing for the upcoming gubernatorial election.

He stressed that politics demands commitment, organization, and sustained grassroots engagement, stating that victory is achieved through hard work. "Politics is not for the weak," Turnah said. Dismissing suggestions that the PDP would be weakened by recent political developments, Turnah maintained the party's strength and favorable position for the next governorship election. He noted that the PDP has identified strategic constituencies and will concentrate resources on winning them. Turnah also charged the party’s House of Assembly candidate to sustain her momentum, expressing confidence in her readiness for the task ahead.
