Bayern Munich Crush Osnabrück 4-1 to Reach DFB-Pokal Second Round

Bayern Munich survived an early scare from VfL Osnabrück before powering into the second round of the DFB-Pokal with a 4-1 victory.

The newly promoted Bundesliga 2 side struck first at the Stadion an der Bremer Brücke. Robin Meissner caught Bayern goalkeeper Jonas Urbig out with a speculative long-range shot after receiving a long pass, giving the hosts a surprise lead.

Bayern responded by increasing the pressure, although Osnabrück’s compact defense initially kept the visitors from creating clear openings. The equalizer arrived in the 18th minute when a failed clearance from a cross fell to Harry Kane, who fired past Jonas Krumrey. Bayern then moved ahead when Krumrey saved Luis Díaz’s shot, only for Tom Bischof to score from the rebound.

Krumrey kept Osnabrück in the match after halftime, denying chances from Michael Olise and Ismael Saibari. Bayern continued to dominate possession and territory, while Osnabrück struggled to threaten Urbig’s goal. The pressure finally produced a third goal in the 73rd minute, when Lennart Karl set up Olise, who lifted the ball over Krumrey.

Kane completed the scoring late from the penalty spot after Aleksandar Pavlović went down in the box. The England captain’s second goal secured Bayern’s 4-1 win and their place in the next round.
