Joshua Franklin J Oktanatama Siahaan has officially taken the helm as the Chairman of the Indonesian Handball Association (ABTI) DKI Jakarta, following his election at the Provincial Sports Conference held at the KONI DKI Jakarta building on Saturday, April 25, 2026. This young entrepreneur, widely known as Joshua Franklin, is recognized for his potential to propel Jakarta's handball achievements onto the international stage. In his inaugural address, Franklin articulated a clear ambition: to establish Jakarta as the national barometer for handball, with aspirations reaching global competitions.

ABTI DKI will continue to synergize and collaborate with PB to bring glory to Jakarta and the Red and White to the international level. Collaborating effectively with the city administrators of West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta, North Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands Regency.

Franklin stressed the commitment of ABTI DKI to foster synergy and collaboration with the national federation (PB ABTI) and the city branches (Jakbar, Jakpus, Jaksel, Jaktim, Jakut, and Kepulauan Seribu). His vision extends to making ABTI DKI a welcoming 'big house' for all handball enthusiasts in Jakarta, underscoring the necessity of collective support to realize this ambitious objective. He expressed optimism that through solid collaboration, continued success can be achieved, building upon the recent triumphs of ABTI Jakarta, which secured gold medals in both the men's and women's categories at PON XXI Aceh-Sumut 2024 under the previous leadership.

The national chairman of PB ABTI, Zulfydar Zaidar Mochtar, conveyed his expectations for the provincial leadership to consistently nurture talented athletes for both regional and international competitions. He highlighted that a robust organizational structure is key to enhancing athlete development, thereby intensifying competition at national championships (Kejurnas) and the National Sports Week (PON), ultimately feeding into the national team for international events. Mochtar also commended the previous leadership for Jakarta's success as the overall champion at PON XXI Aceh 2024 and acknowledged Jakarta's significant contribution to the national team's third-place finish at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, which included nine athletes and two coaches from the capital. Looking ahead, PB ABTI has outlined a series of developmental programs, including student Kejurnas in Surabaya, senior Kejurnas in Medan, and the Beach Sports PON in Jakarta, emphasizing consistent training and ongoing development as crucial for maintaining Indonesia's global athletic standing.

Through a solid organizational wheel, athlete prestasi development increases. With that, competition in Kejurnas and PON will increase to produce prestasi athletes who will later join the main Pelatnas team towards international events.
