Beggar dies leaving savings of over RM35,000

A 69-year-old woman in Mandya, India, who survived by begging on the streets, has left behind a surprising legacy: savings totaling Rs840,000 (approximately RM35,491).

The woman, identified only as Noor, resided alone in Sabdariyabad Mohalla and was a familiar figure, often seen soliciting alms at roadsides and traffic intersections. She passed away on Wednesday due to age-related health complications.

Following her death, relatives and local residents came together to manage her burial arrangements. It was during this process that the extent of her financial situation came to light when they began sorting through bags of money she had stored in her home.

Locals and family members were astonished to discover the accumulated wealth, consisting of cash, piles of coins, and balances in her bank account. The discovery highlights how consistent small donations from the public can accumulate into a significant sum over time, a fact that deeply surprised the local community.
