Bekasi DPRD Member Charged with Assault Leading to Victim's Injuries

Nyumarno, a member of the Bekasi Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), along with two other individuals, faces charges of jointly assaulting a victim and causing injuries. The indictment was read during a trial session at the Cikarang District Court on Wednesday.

The prosecution stated that the defendants are accused of committing violence together on October 30, 2025, at a restaurant, resulting in the victim sustaining wounds. Following the indictment reading, the panel of judges decided to postpone the trial and scheduled the next session for August 12, 2026.

Dani Bahdani, the legal counsel for the victim, expressed appreciation for the Bekasi District Attorney's Office for bringing the case to court after more than nine months of legal proceedings. Bahdani urged all parties, particularly officials within the Bekasi Regency Government, to respect the ongoing legal process and refrain from any intervention.

Another lawyer representing the victim, Michael, requested the Directorate General of Correctional Facilities (Ditjen PAS) to monitor the alleged use of mobile phones by the defendant Nyumarno while in detention at the Cipayung detention center. "Furthermore, as the legal team for Pendi, the victim, we also urge the Director General of Correctional Facilities to supervise the use of mobile phones by the defendant NY at the Rutan Cipayung," he stated.

Michael expressed hope that all parties would respect the judicial process until the judges deliver a legally binding verdict. Previously, a man named Fendy (41) reported the alleged assault involving the DPRD member identified only as N. Following an investigation, police named N, a Bekasi DPRD member, and two others as suspects. The Bekasi Metro Police handed over the three suspects and evidence to the Bekasi Regency Prosecutor's Office on July 29 after the case file was declared complete.
