Wild boar attacks two residents in West Java

Two residents in Desa Celak, Gununghalu Subdistrict, Bandung Barat Regency, West Java, were attacked by a wild boar that entered their neighborhood. The incident occurred on Thursday, July 30, 2026, around 4:30 PM Western Indonesian Time, in two separate locations within the village.

The first victim, identified as Asid (65), initially mistook the animal for a goat entering his property. When he attempted to drive it away, the wild boar charged at him, causing injuries to his hands and legs. He received initial treatment from his family at home.

Shortly after, the same wild boar appeared in another area of the village, Kampung Celak Kaler. Residents attempted to corner the animal, but it attacked another villager, Pelah. Pelah suffered bites and was gored on his hands and legs, requiring immediate medical attention at a nearby health facility. Reports indicate the wounds on his hand alone needed over 20 stitches.

Following the attacks, the wild boar reportedly fled into a nearby garden area and has not been seen since. The head of Gununghalu Subdistrict, Asep Haris Kosaman, confirmed the incidents, stating that both victims received medical care and are recovering at home.
