Bekasi Police Arrest Motorcycle Theft Suspect After Five-Month Fugitive Status

Authorities in Bekasi, Indonesia, have apprehended a suspect in a motorcycle theft case who had evaded capture for five months. The arrest took place early Saturday morning at the suspect's parents' residence in Pantai Harapan Jaya village, Muaragembong district.

The suspect, identified by the initials FS, was reportedly asleep on the front porch of his parents' home when police arrived. According to the Head of Public Relations for the Bekasi Metro Police, AKP Aliyani, the arrest was the result of intensive investigation and information gathering that led officers to the suspect's location. He was taken into custody without resistance.

During the arrest, police seized several items believed to be used in the thefts, including a Y-shaped key, a T-shaped key, black trousers, and a mobile phone. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the full extent of the suspect's involvement and to locate the stolen motorcycle.

FS faces charges under Article 477 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, related to aggravated theft. The case originated on February 7, 2026, when a victim, RBM, reported their white-red Honda Beat motorcycle stolen from their home's terrace in Sukatani district. The theft occurred between 5:45 PM and 6:20 PM. The victim suffered a financial loss of approximately Rp4.6 million (around $300 USD). The victim filed a report three days later, initiating a months-long manhunt that concluded with FS's arrest.

The suspect and evidence have now been secured for further investigation. Investigators are still exploring the connection of the evidence with the reported criminal acts and tracing the location of the victim's motorcycle.
