Bekasi Police Urge Workers to Obey Traffic Laws

Bekasi Police are actively encouraging laborers in Kabupaten Bekasi to adhere to traffic regulations. This initiative was highlighted during a community policing visit to PT. Astemo Bekasi Manufacturing in Cikarang Utara on Tuesday.

Kompol Sugihartono, Head of the Traffic Unit for Bekasi Metro Police, stressed the critical importance of safe driving practices, particularly for motorcycle users. The program aims to decrease the number of traffic accidents, which frequently involve workers.

He further emphasized the need to cultivate a culture of traffic discipline, including compliance with traffic signs, using SNI-standard helmets, and ensuring vehicles are roadworthy. Driver readiness, both physical and mental, was also noted as crucial for accident prevention.

Sugihartono believes these efforts are particularly relevant for industrial area workers who commute daily, often using private vehicles. "A culture of orderly traffic must begin with small things that are often considered trivial," he added. The educational outreach from the Bekasi Metro Police received positive feedback from labor union representatives, with local worker Iqbal (36) calling the initiative vital for raising awareness about road safety.
