Belgian police find body of 5-year-old boy missing since June, father still sought

Belgian police on Monday discovered the lifeless body of a 5-year-old boy in a wood in Onhaye, near Dinant. Authorities believe the body may be that of Tyméo, who disappeared with his father, Bryan Brigou, 29, at the end of June. The child's father remains missing, and his personal effects were found near where the boy's body was discovered at the foot of a tree stump.

On August 24, around 11:00 a.m., based on new testimony, the Federal Judicial Police discovered the body of a child in a ditch, on the edge of the N97, near Onhaye.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to confirm the child's identity. "The circumstances and causes of the child's death are not yet known," the Namur prosecutor's office stated. "No lead is being overlooked, and all hypotheses are being investigated."

At this stage, the child has not been formally identified. Elements found at the scene nevertheless suggest that it could be Tyméo.

Tyméo and his father were last seen on June 27 in Onhaye. The following day, Brigou's car was found abandoned and empty in a parking lot. Nearly two weeks later, prosecutors issued a public appeal for witnesses and surveillance footage to trace their movements. Reports indicate Bryan Brigou was under electronic surveillance at the time of his disappearance.
