Beneficiaries of fascism active in destabilizing energy sector, warns PM Tarique

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stated that individuals who benefited from fascism remain active within the state, politics, governance, and administration. He warned that this group is actively working to destabilize the country's power and energy sector by spreading misinformation. Rahman made these remarks at a rally for the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) marking its 37th anniversary.

Rahman acknowledged the public's current struggles with electricity, gas, and fuel shortages. He attributed these crises to the previous governments' unplanned projects and decisions, which he claimed were designed to provide special benefits to certain groups. The prime minister assured that the current government is developing plans to gradually alleviate these shortages.

Those who have benefited from fascism are not sitting idle. This group is quite active in destabilizing the country’s energy and power sector in various ways. They were spreading misleading information about the sector.

In a move to bolster public healthcare, Rahman announced the government's decision to recruit 100,000 new health workers. He urged doctors to provide proper training for these new recruits, emphasizing the government's focus on preventive care. The prime minister also indicated that several proposals from the DAB to enhance healthcare services would be considered in phases. These proposals include recruiting 5,000 additional doctors, raising the age limit for government service entry to 34, increasing the retirement age to 65, offering incentives for doctors in remote areas, and establishing specialized hospitals outside Dhaka.

Earlier, Prime Minister Rahman and his wife planted trees and inaugurated the rally by hoisting flags and releasing balloons and pigeons. The event was presided over by DAB President Prof Dr Harun Al Rashid, with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Social Welfare Minister Abu Zaf also in attendance.

The government is not denying that people are currently facing crises of electricity, gas and fuel. But the country, its people and the government are now paying for those unplanned schemes to provide special benefits to certain quarters.
