Benfica loses friendly to Flamengo in first match without Mourinho

Benfica kicked off their post-José Mourinho era with a 1-2 friendly defeat against Brazilian side Flamengo at the Estadio do Algarve. The match served as the debut for new coach Marco Silva.

Flamengo, who are in the midst of their domestic season, showed better form. They took the lead in first-half stoppage time through Samuel Lino, a former Atlético de Madrid player. However, Benfica responded almost immediately, with Vangelis Pavlidis converting a penalty to level the score.
