Bengkalis Police Arrest Fugitive in 15 Kg Shabu Case After 3 Years on the Run

The Riau Police's Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) in Bengkalis has apprehended a fugitive, identified only as A (48), who had evaded capture for nearly three years in connection with a major drug case involving 15 kilograms of shabu (methamphetamine).

The suspect was arrested at his residence in Sungai Alam Village, Bengkalis District, on Thursday, June 18. The Head of Satresnarkoba Polres Bengkalis, AKP Tidar Laksono, stated that the arrest was the result of persistent efforts by his team to resolve drug cases, particularly those involving individuals on the wanted list.

This case originated from a police report on August 5, 2023, following the arrest of a courier carrying approximately 15 kilograms of shabu. Subsequent investigations revealed suspect A's alleged role as a communication facilitator. He is believed to have introduced and connected other individuals within the drug trafficking network to the courier who was apprehended earlier.

During his initial examination, suspect A admitted to his role as a communication link in the shabu transactions. He also confirmed knowing two other individuals previously processed for the same case. A urine test conducted on the suspect indicated he was positive for methamphetamine. The police are continuing their investigation to identify any other potential members of the drug trafficking network.
