Bengkulu lawmakers skip questioning as KPK investigates Vinna Ledy car transactions

Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission, known as the KPK, will reschedule questioning for the chairman and deputy chairman of the Bengkulu City Council after both failed to appear on Monday.

Herimanto and Rahmad Widodo had been due to testify as witnesses in the expanding investigation into alleged bribery involving procurement projects in Rejang Lebong regency and elsewhere in Bengkulu province. KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said the two witnesses did not attend and would be summoned again.

Private-sector witness Rani Soraya and car showroom representative Irwan Arifin did attend. Investigators questioned Soraya about an alleged car given by a private party to Vinna Ledy Anggraheni, a Bengkulu City Council member, with the vehicle registered in Soraya's name. They questioned Arifin about the order and payment for a new car purchased by businessman EBS, which investigators have seized.

The KPK has also seized a luxury house in South Jakarta and a vehicle belonging to Vinna Ledy. The commission said she allegedly received money from projects carried out by Bengkulu City's Public Works and Housing Agency and from private parties.

The inquiry grew out of an alleged project-bribery case in Rejang Lebong for the 2025-2026 budget years. Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari is among the suspects. Investigators have searched several locations, including the home of Bengkulu City's public works chief, where they found and seized Rp4 billion in cash. The KPK said it is using a general investigation warrant and will identify and name suspects as the case progresses.
