Benito Juárez offers free eye exams to detect serious conditions

The Benito Juárez mayor's office is providing free retinal examinations to detect serious eye conditions early. This initiative aims to identify diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, optic nerve issues, and retinal detachment before they cause irreversible damage.

The campaign is a collaboration with Sala Uno, a specialized institution with which the mayor's office has an agreement to expand community health services. Examinations are taking place at the Specialized Social Care Center (CASE). During the initial phase, 50 residents received digital retinal imaging, a crucial step for early diagnosis.

Manuel Manríquez, a local resident, found the campaign invaluable. "I saw the announcement and came because I wasn't seeing well," he said. "They treated me very well, and the doctor detected that cataracts are already affecting my vision. In other places, they told me I had nothing."

Cecilia Vega Ibarra highlighted the importance of such programs for those without access to private healthcare. "They are giving us the facilities that many people need," she stated. "I am very happy with all that the mayor's office is doing with these health campaigns, like those for gynecology, glasses, and now this ophthalmological care."

A second round of free screenings is scheduled for August 13 at the CASE, located at Avenida Cuauhtémoc 1240, Colonia Santa Cruz Atoyac. The program continues to offer vital eye health services to the community.
