Benue PDP affirms 37 candidates for State House of Assembly

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State has successfully affirmed 37 consensus candidates who will fly the party's flag in the upcoming State House of Assembly elections. This significant move solidifies the party's lineup as it prepares for the electoral contest.

A notable inclusion among the affirmed candidates is Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, the immediate past Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly. Dajoh recently switched allegiance from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP, a move that adds a seasoned political figure to the party's roster. Dajoh had previously withdrawn from the APC's House of Assembly primary election before his defection.

His resignation as Speaker in August 2025 followed a crisis that engulfed the Assembly, leading to his succession by Alfred Emberga. The PDP's statement, issued on Saturday by State Publicity Secretary Bright Yima Antyo, detailed the affirmed candidates, highlighting a consensus-driven approach to candidate selection.

Among those confirmed are Ayo Jeremiah Terungwa for Kwande East State Constituency, Igbaakaa Aondoakura James for Konshisha 1 State Constituency, and Girgi Daniel Terlumun for Tiev State Constituency, Vandeikya. The list also includes Bemgba Iortyom, identified as a media consultant for the PDP in the state, securing a nomination for Mata State Constituency.
