German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt has called for a tougher stance on individuals identified as extremist threats, particularly after an attack on the fringes of Berlin's Christopher Street Day. Dobrindt expressed strong criticism regarding the application of juvenile criminal law to adult offenders.

Dobrindt's proposals extend beyond judicial reform. He also advocated for increased use of electronic ankle monitoring and the establishment of nationwide, standardized regulations for the preventive detention of individuals considered dangerous. Similar sentiments have emerged from within the Union parliamentary group. Alexander Throm, an interior policy spokesperson for the CDU, urged an end to suspended sentences for extremist offenders.
