Berlin Vigil to Honor Victims of CSD Terror Attack

Berlin will hold a vigil on Sunday to honor the victims of a recent Islamist-motivated attack that marred the city's Christopher Street Day (CSD) celebrations. The memorial event is scheduled to take place at the site of the attack in the Tiergarten.

The attack, which occurred on July 25, saw a 21-year-old assailant drive a car into pedestrians before attacking others, reportedly with a machete. The violence resulted in the death of one woman and left 31 people injured, seven of them severely. Police later shot and killed the suspect in a garden colony.

Organized by the Association of Queer Diversity Berlin-Brandenburg (LSVD) and its federal counterpart, the vigil is intended as a moment of remembrance and solidarity. "Let's come together. In remembrance. In solidarity. For humanity," the organizers stated, emphasizing that "hate and violence must never have the last word."

Regula tory Mayor Kai Wegner (CDU) has confirmed his attendance, underscoring the city's unified stance against the attack. The event aims to provide comfort to the victims and their families while reinforcing the community's resilience and commitment to human dignity.
