Beyond the crown: Who is Joheirry Mola, the TV correspondent crowned Miss World 2026?

Joheirry Mola’s Miss World 2026 crown caps a career that spans education, journalism and community work. The 24-year-old from the Dominican Republic won the title at the 73rd Miss World final in Nha Trang, Vietnam, on Saturday, Sept. 5.

She succeeded Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri, the first Thai contestant to win the title in 2025. Spain’s Elisabeth Reynés was named first runner-up, while Malaysia’s Taanusiya Chetty finished second runner-up.

Mola holds a degree in Business Management and Administration from Universidad Iberoamericana and works as an educator. She teaches literature and social studies in English, with an emphasis on critical thinking and her students’ wider development.

She also works as a television correspondent for Univision New York’s “Ventana a Quisqueya”, covering Dominican culture, social issues and stories from Dominican communities. She founded Voices of Tomorrow, a social initiative that seeks to expand access to English education for children and young people in vulnerable communities.

Her community work includes taking part in Unicef’s “Together For Children” Telethon in May 2026. The event raised $24.752 million for health, education and child protection programmes across the Dominican Republic. The Miss World organisation describes Mola as a “dedicated educator, community advocate, and communicator”. Her stated motto is: “The greatest gift you can offer is the opportunity that you once needed yourself in order to grow, move forward, and transform your life.”
