Bihor Nursing Home Scandal Moves to Political Arena. Alexandru Muraru: 'If We Are to Have Those Responsible: It Is Those Who Held the Ministry of Labor in the Last Five Years, Namely PSD'

Liberal Party (PNL) Vice President Alexandru Muraru has placed political responsibility for the scandal involving nursing homes in Bihor county squarely on the Ministry of Labor and the Social Democratic Party (PSD). Muraru vehemently rejected accusations that Ilie Bolojan, the former mayor of Oradea, has any connection to the case, labeling these attempts as a "gross manipulation."

It is an attempt to give the impression that Ilie Bolojan is involved in all sorts of shady dealings or institutional or social crises. It is untrue and a gross falsehood and gross manipulation.

Speaking to RFI, Muraru asserted that institutions tasked with authorizing, controlling, and verifying social centers fall under the purview of the Ministry of Labor. He pointed out that this ministry has been led by PSD representatives for the past five years. "If we are to hold someone politically responsible for what happened in this matter related to these nursing homes, it is those who held the Ministry of Labor in the last five years, meaning the PSD," Muraru stated.

Furthermore, Muraru highlighted that the Bihor County Social Benefits Agency, responsible for licensing, inspecting, and coordinating these homes, has been exclusively led by PSD members for 15 years. He also noted that funeral aid, often relevant in such cases, is disbursed not by the Bihor General Directorate for Social Assistance or the Oradea City Hall, but by the Pension House, which also operates under the Ministry of Labor.

Muraru accused political opponents of conducting a smear campaign against Ilie Bolojan, suggesting their "desperation" only enhances Bolojan's authority and public trust. These statements come amid an ongoing DIICOT investigation into alleged organized crime and human trafficking related to the social centers in Bihor, where individuals were reportedly exploited for financial gain. Authorities have relocated hundreds of vulnerable individuals from these centers.

The desperation with which these people are acting these days does nothing but increase the authority and trust in Ilie Bolojan. People are not naive and cannot be fooled through paid television and through such games.
