Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has issued a stark warning about the potential for artificial intelligence to create widespread job losses and societal upheaval. He described the coming AI era as potentially one of the most turbulent in human history, emphasizing that current preparations by governments and societies are insufficient.

In a detailed essay, Gates noted that AI presents a critical juncture, capable of becoming either a powerful force for reducing global inequality or a significant driver of injustice. He expressed concern that the world is falling behind in confronting the challenges posed by AI's rapid advancement, stating, "Unfortunately, right now we are not preparing for it. I don’t see evidence that leaders, experts, and communities are confronting the challenges adequately."

The billionaire philanthropist pointed out that AI's speed of deployment distinguishes it from previous technological revolutions. Unlike the personal computer, which took decades to integrate into work processes, AI can adapt to users and leverage existing devices and natural language, accelerating its impact.
